Mālama Da Farmer
About Mālama Da Farmer
Mālama Da Farmer is a program of The Food Basket dedicated to supporting Hawaiʻi Island's farmers and ranchers by connecting them with resources, opportunities, and financial assistance to help them strengthen and expand their agricultural operations.
Through the Mālama Da Farmer Grant, 32 local agricultural producers received funding to strengthen their farm infrastructure, invest in essential equipment and improvements, and overcome challenges that can make farming in Hawaiʻi difficult. Just like roads, bridges, and other essential infrastructure, our farms need continued investment to keep our communities strong and our local food supply resilient.
Beyond grant funding, Mālama Da Farmer helps connect our agricultural community with valuable resources, technical assistance, and opportunities to grow. By investing in farm infrastructure, we're investing in our farmers, our food security, and a stronger, more resilient Hawaiʻi Island.
