FOOD ACCESS PROGRAMS
The Food Basket sponsors, manages, and collaborates with organizations to connect local food producers and distributors with community members to ensure everyone, from keiki to kūpuna, have access to the food they need.
Kūpuna Pantry
Kūpuna pantry is a federally funded program that provides low income seniors with monthly food boxes that contain a variety of foods.
School Pantry
The School Pantry/Keiki Backpacks program provides food to low-income elementary-aged children at schools with high rates of free and reduced lunches.
SNAP
SNAP is a federally funded program administered by the state of Hawaiʻi that provides supplemental food benefits for qualifying Hawai’i residents.
DA BUX
DA BUX partners with food retailers to make Hawai‘i-grown fruits and vegetables more affordable for SNAP-EBT cardholders.
DA BOX
DA BOX is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program that purchases Hawai`i Island grown produce and resells to customers island-wide.
Kōkua Harvest
Kōkua Harvest works to reduce food waste, strengthen community ties, and improve access to fresh, nutritious fruits and vegetables for all by harvesting crops that would otherwise go to waste.
Community Food Security Project
The Community Food Security Project is a multi‑year initiative led by The Food Basket to develop a Five‑Year Community Food Security Plan for Hawaiʻi Island.
