September is Hunger Action Month.

On Hawaiʻi Island, 43% of households are food insecure. 62% of keiki. Those figures come from The State of Food Insecurity in Hawaiʻi, 2024 to 2025, and they were true before this storm season started.

A storm lands hardest on those households. Power goes out and the food in the fridge is gone. Work stops and the paycheck comes up short. The road closes and the shelves empty. A household with a cushion absorbs that. A household already choosing between rent and groceries cannot.

We are Hawaiʻi Island's food bank. If somebody you know is stretching food this month, tell them where to go.

E-Box runs weekdays at both warehouses.

Hilo warehouse, 40 Holomua St., 1 to 3 PM. Kona warehouse, 73-4161 Ulu Wini Pl., Kailua-Kona, 1 to 2 PM.

Open to everyone, no preregistration and no list. You sign a short TEFAP form when you arrive.
