The Food Basket Is Accepting Donations Of Emergency Food, Water And Supplies For Residents Affected By Volcano Eruption

Hilo, Hi, May 5, 2018


The Food Basket, Hawai`i Island’s Food Bank is accepting donations of bottled water, nonperishable foods and supplies to help with disaster relief efforts in the Puna district. Donations can be dropped off at their warehouses in both Hilo and Kailua-Kona starting at 7 a.m. on weekdays at either location.  The Food Basket is also accepting monetary donations for disaster relief efforts on Hawaii Island.

“Our team has been conducting a needs assessments over the last two days with our partner agencies in the Puna District in order to get a better idea about specific needs for affected Puna residents,” said Kristin Frost Albrecht, Executive Director of The Food Basket. “During emergencies, one of the best ways the public can help is to provide monetary donations which allows the delivery of the exact relief supplies a community needs.”

The Food Basket is also accepting volunteer help at both the Kona and Hilo warehouse locations to help with packing, sorting and palletizing donated food and supplies for distribution.  For more information please visit:  www.hawaiifoodbasket.org or call 808-933-6030
