DA BUX is an incentive program for SNAP-EBT cardholders to buy more Hawai`i Island grown produce. DA BUX stretches EBT food dollars, as well as supports farmers on our island.
The DA BUX program works by matching EBT dollars spent at produce outlets with additional free produce. Outlets either provide free produce vouchers that match your EBT swipe or they apply a 50% discount with your EBT purchase at Point of Sale.
DA BUX is currently offered through the following outlets on select dates:
Ho`olaha Ka Hua "DA BOX", all-year round. Sign up for a weekly or bi-weekly DA BOX produce subscription here.
DA BUS Mobile Market, all-year round. Find our Mobile Market sales schedule here.
KTA Superstores*, beginning April 3rd at all stores on the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month.
*Here’s how DA BUX works at KTA: DA BUX participants receive 50% off qualifying DA BUX fruits and vegetables, up to a $20 discount per transaction per day. SNAP cardholders can sign up for DA BUX on April 3-5 from 9am-5pm at KTA locations in North and West Hawai‘i. They can also sign up at The Food Basket’s Hilo warehouse. Upon sign up, a DA BUX discount sticker will be placed directly onto SNAP cards. Participants hand their SNAP card with the attached discount sticker to the cashier at checkout in order to receive 50% off qualifying items in their shopping cart.
Please note that DA BUX is grant funded and how long the program is offered at each site is dependent on funds being available.
